This 8 ½ x 11, 22 page paperback book has been a children’s favorite since it was first published in 1990.
It's more than just a coloring book, though the drawings by local artist Clyde Overcash are excellent, but it is also a storybook, telling the story of Michael’s immigration from Germany and his family’s ultimate migration to Rowan County, NC.
As part of telling the story, writers Joyce Ann and Patricia Lynn Redwine ask children to put themselves in Michael’s shoes and has them answer questions about how they would feel and react to his circumstances throughout his life.
